Light is a Chrome Extension developed by Maeris that helps users record and run automated test flows directly in their browser. This Privacy Policy outlines how we handle data during your use of the extension in its beta stage.
What Data We Collect
Light captures the following only when you explicitly start recording:
- Clicks, text inputs, form interactions, and navigations
- URLs and DOM elements interacted with during a test
- (Optional) Screen recordings, if you enable the feature
If you enter any personally identifiable information (PII) during a test, it is treated as test content and stored securely in your Maeris account. Light does not collect this data independently.
Light does not:
- Collect data in the background
- Monitor your browsing history
- Use cookies or third-party tracking
How We Use Your Data
Data is used only to:
- Generate and replay test flows
- Save test cases linked to your Maeris account
- Provide optional playback features if enabled
No data is used for advertising, profiling, or third-party analytics.
Data Storage and Security
- All data is encrypted in transit using HTTPS
- Stored securely in our cloud environment
- Temporary session data is cleared unless saved by you
- Test data is tied only to your authenticated Maeris account
User Control and Consent
- You decide when to start and stop recording
- You can delete or manage test data at any time
- Screen recording is fully optional and disabled by default
- You may uninstall the extension to stop all data collection
Third-Party Services
Light does not share, sell, or rent your data to third parties.
No external SDKs or analytics scripts are used in the extension.

Light follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy by:
- Only collecting data with clear user consent
- Storing data securely
- Limiting functionality to a single purpose
